What are your plans?

She is considering all of her options; but you, too, have choices to make and a lot of challenges to consider yourself. What should you do? How can you help? What are your responsibilities? There are so many unanswered questions.

An unplanned and or unintended pregnancy involves life-changing decisions. As the father of this baby, you are already involved; and the decisions you are facing at this very moment will affect you for the rest of your life.

At the PRC of Gwinnett you will receive the resources, referrals, and evidence-based medical education you need to help both you and the mother of your baby through these decisions. Our services include you, too! Make an appointment at the PRC of Gwinnett by calling 770.338.1680. We will listen to you. Ask us all the questions you have. We will provide the support and encouragement you need as you consider how to make the best decision in this situation. Having someone to talk to and listen to you will help you to be strong for yourself as well as for your partner.

Things You Should Do:

  • KNOW THE FACTS: Knowledge is power. Evidence-based medical education can help you and your partner make wise choices. Be sure you know the facts about all the pros and cons of each available choice (parenting, abortion, and adoption). Make sure your partner is making an informed as well as safe decision for her health.
  • LISTEN TO HER: You and your partner are facing a challenging situation, and there are decisions to be made. Do not rush her or pressure her. Listen to her. What are her feelings? Keep the communication open and just be there for her.
  • REMAIN CALM: Even though she is the one pregnant, you have both brought a new life into existence and you both are responsible. Remain calm. She needs your strength, encouragement, as well as support more than ever at this point in her life.
  • COMMUNICATE: Talk to your partner about your thoughts and feelings. Be honest. Talk to adults you trust and who will be supportive. Seek wisdom.

Things You Shouldn’t Do:

  • Run: Escaping will not make this situation any better for either of you.
  • Pressure her: Your goal should be to work together to reach a decision that is best for both of you. It may not be easy, but it is well worth your time to make this happen.
